BEST ROOFING SERVICES IN MISSISSAUGA

Roof shingles are one the most common features in all of home design elements. You likely see them every single day without giving their importance or utility a second thought. However, you certainly notice when those little rectangular tiles start malfunctioning. With shingles made from a wide range of materials, including wood, slate, flagstone, metal, plastic and composite materials, it can be hard to track down exactly the right set of supplies needed for repairs. Trips to the hardware store can prove costly and you still may not end up with exactly what your roof needs. Additionally, attempting to repair shingles yourself typically only creates greater issues and also puts inexperienced people in danger of falling off of rooftops. It’s best to avoid the hassle and risk altogether by hiring professional shingle repair contractors to take care of the work for you. We wanted to help point you in the right direction by listing a few of the best shingle roofing repair companies in all of Mississauga.

What Makes a Good Residential Roofing Contractor?

There are many residential roofing contractors in Mississauga, but some are better than others. It is important you understand what makes a good roofer since a roof is an expensive investment and a leaky or otherwise damaged roof due to poor workmanship can spell disaster in bad weather. According to Ontario’s Ministry of Government and Consumer Services statistics, there were approximately 1,600 inquiries and complaints made about home renovation services in 2015, of which 21% were roofer related.

Workmanship Warranties

We stand by our work, which is the reason we give warranties on our workmanship. Although we are not associated with all manufacturers of roofing materials, most require certified and/or specially trained roofers to install roofing systems if their manufacturer warranties are to apply. Our team has the necessary certifications to avoid voiding your manufacturer’s warranty.

Local Presence

You should only hire a local roofing contractor. It is easy to verify the reputation of a local company since you can view their work on previous projects. If you live in Toronto or Mississauga, hiring us is advantageous in that we understand the local building codes and the local climate and in case of a roofing emergency, we will get to your home quicker, even outside of regular business hours.

Workman Insurance

We have WSIB workers compensation insurance and we are able to share proof of insurance for validation. This means you will not be held liable in case an employee is injured while working on your roof. Our workers have the relevant training to prevent injuries, including fall protection training/working at heights training.

Well Equipped

We have the tools, equipment, and safety gear necessary for any roofing project. Coverall Roofing bends all metal in-house and is customized for each project.

Roofing Services to Expect from an Expert Roofer

A good roofing company is one that offers comprehensive service. If you stick to the same roofer, you will get greater consistency in terms of roofing style and materials and you will save money. At Coverall Roofing, we offer all house roofing services. These include:

Whether you are doing a renovation project or you are building a house from scratch, we will install your roof for you. Most customers in Toronto and Mississauga opt for asphalt shingles, but we have experience with all roofing materials. We have won different awards because of our exceptional roofing, including the Homestars Best of Award and Contractor Of The Year Award for Roofing.

If your roof has been damaged due to storm, debris, or other reason, we will proactively repair it to prevent the exacerbation of the problem.

Given the weather in the Greater Toronto Area, a fully-functioning eavestrough system is a must. We install your eavestroughs, soffits, fascia, and downspouts.

We inspect roofs to determine whether a roof needs repairs or re-installation. We will look at such things as loose shingles and advise you accordingly.

For natural light and a more open feel Coverall Roofing offers skylight installation and is a Certified Velux Installer.

Stick to a Pro for Residential Roofing Services

Your roof protects your family and belongings from extreme weather conditions. To prevent a shoddy job and to protect your investment, the roof should only be installed by an experienced professional.

Since roofing involves working from an elevated position with an unfinished roof, the risk of falling is high. At Coverall Roofing, our workers have the relevant harnesses and training to work from heights. We have insurance to cover our workers and your property in case of damage.

We have the tools and equipment (such as debris disposal equipment) for all residential roofing services. This means you actually save money when you hire a pro since you don’t have to buy the tools.

Hiring a pro means the roof will not require constant repairs since it will be professionally done. We offer workman insurance that covers you in case of damage resulting from poor workmanship, but we are proud to say this is very rare. Hiring us also ensures your manufacturer warranties are not voided.

Given that we are industry insiders, we understand the building code. We will advise you on the roofing system that best suits Ontario’s weather and that will best go with your house décor.

The scope of roof installation and roof repair is time-consuming and tedious, often requiring a big team to complete. Hiring us for the job means quicker turnaround time and the roofing will not interfere with your other responsibilities.

Where do you Search for a Good Residential Roofing Company?

Note that since roofing contractors are not licensed by the Ontario government, you may need to do a little research to get a reliable residential roofing company.

  • Get recommendations from friends, relatives, neighbours or colleagues who have previously had good results from a roofer.
  • Go through reviews and testimonials in home improvement publications and industry websites.
  • Go through Consumer Beware List for complaints and alerts made through the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

What are the Components of a Residential Roof?

Residential Roofing

In the Greater Toronto Area, the structure and style of a residential roof is determined by the climate, local codes, building codes, municipal requirements, residential community covenants, the surroundings (such as trees over the roof), energy efficiency, and the style of the home, among others.

It is important to hire a professional who understands all the components of a house roof to ensure you invest in the best roof and get the best solutions whenever you encounter roofing problems.

This is the first layer of the roof, or the skeleton of the roof, and is made of wood. It is made up of joists, trusses and rafters which project above the home to set the base on which the rest of the roof will be built. It is then covered by decking, which is the wood where everything else is laid. The most common decking materials are plywood and OBS (oriented strand board).

The underlayment is the first line of protection on your roof, generally consisting of a peel and stick ice protection barrier and a fabric-like barrier that has traditionally been made of asphalt-saturated felt, however, the industry has generally moved towards more synthetic-based felt membranes. Underlayment is applied on the decking and helps for fire resistance, for a watertight seal around nails, for ice and vapor protection and to serve as a secondary water barrier should water get beneath the shingles or if any blow-offs occur in extreme weather.

Wall and counter flashing is a thin sheet that is installed around vertical surfaces intersecting with the plane of the roof such as the surface of the chimney and walls. Wall flashing is made of metal and is bent at around 120 degrees so that one plane is resting against the face of the fixture while the other is extending out horizontally above the shingles. Counter flashing is the piece that covers step flashings where a sloped section of the roof meets the wall.

Step flashings are small square pieces of metal bent on a 90-degree angle and are installed per shingle when the sides of shingles meet a wall or chimney.

Chimney back flashing is a piece of metal that extends the width of the back of the chimney and is generally bent at a 60-degree angle running under the shingles and up the chimney wall.

Other than walls and chimneys, flashing is also installed around such residential roof features as skylights, valleys, and dormers.

This is the most recognizable roof component. Traditionally, wood and slate were used but asphalt shingles have been the predominant material for the last 100 years in North America.

Shingles have to seal to one another for water and wind resistance, starting from the starter strip at the eaves of the roof. This is achieved using nails and heat-activated sealants. Shingles come in different designs to serve different looks and can also serve such functions as reflection and thermal emission. Hip and ridge are accessory shingles that are used to finish the hips and ridges of residential roofs.

As the term suggests, drip edge (also called eaves flashing), is located at the edge of the roof. It is made up of a thin metal strip to direct water into the eavestrough, preventing water from flowing down the surface of the wall. A drip edge is typically installed after the underlayment on a rake edge and before the underlayment on the eaves.

This is the exterior’s topmost vertical component where it meets the edge of the roof. A drip edge is placed at the top of the fascia and eavestrough attached to the fascia.

Eavestroughs are the metal troughs that take the water away from the roof’s edge. They are connected to the downspouts which direct the water to drain away from the foundation.

Soffit is a horizontal underside to an eave edge that is extending past the horizontal underside. Soffits are often perforated or have built-in vent openings for attic ventilation. Soffit vents, alongside roof vents, are important in giving a roof proper ventilation.

An Overview of Shingle Roofing

Shingles are the predominant roofing material in Toronto and the surrounding areas because of their desirable properties, ease of installation and maintenance, and availability. Important attributes of shingle roofing include wind resistance, impact resistance from such things as hail, fire resistance, and solar reflectance.

Shingles are roof coverings made up of individual overlapping elements. For asphalt shingles, the elements are flat and rectangular and they are laid in courses, with each successive course overlapping the joints below.

Asphalt shingle standards are maintained by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), which also spearheads research and maintains a classification system alone or in partnership with other bodies.

The base material used in making asphalt shingles is fiberglass. In this case, the core materials are:

  • The asphalt-saturated base that is covered with either asphalt or modified-asphalt. This acts as a water-shedding agent and to hold the granules in place.
  • An exposed surface that is impregnated with quartz, slate, schist, stone, ceramic, or vitrified brick granules. The granules on the top surface block UV light (which causes deterioration to the asphalt), provide color, and provide physical protection to the asphalt core.
  • The under-side, or back-surfacing, is treated with sand, mica, or talc to prevent the shingles from sticking to each other before installation and from sticking to machinery during installation.
  • Copper and other biocides are often added to the surface to hinder algae growth.
  • Fillers, or mineral stabilizers, are finely-ground materials added to the asphalt during manufacture to increase fire resistance, flexibility, durability, weathering, and other desirable qualities.
  • Asphalt shingles also feature self-sealing strips on the underside to provide resistance to lifting during high winds. The materials used for this are typically limestone, polymer-modified bitumen, or fly-ash-modified resins.

As the term suggests, in fiberglass asphalt shingles, the base mat is made up of random-laid glass fibers that are bonded with urea-formaldehyde resin. Fiberglass-based asphalt shingles have better fire retardation capabilities, often getting class “A” rating.

Note that as per 2003 International Building Code Sections 1507.2.1 and 1507.2.2, you can only use asphalt shingles for 17% roof slopes (two units vertical in 12 units horizontal) or greater, and flat roofing membranes for shallower slopes. The shingles have to be fastened to decks that are solidly sheathed.

      Our customers say...

Mark, Wes, and the entire Coverall team did an excellent job on our complex roof. They had to work flat roofs, steep angles, skylights, and shaped windows and did very high quality work at a very competitive price. The entire coverall crew was polite, professional and they did a great job cleaning up the job site. I have already recommended them to our friends.

Not only do I not have any complaints, I have nothing but praise. Coverall did my house and three of my neighbors at the same time. The work was professional, the crew worked well together, they worked safely and were friendly. The price was lower than other quotes received. They took care to protect all figures on the property, and the site was kept clean at the end of each day. Literally not a single nail was found on the ground after the fact. Of, by the way, the roofs look great!

Flat roof update in prep for solar panels. Mark and crew did a great job. Timely, professional and worked with my Solar contractor to make solution even better. Have already recommended them to two friends.

Great job! The coverall team worked quickly and efficiently. The job, a complete re-roofing, while substantial, took them only 2 days, and was done to a very high degree of quality. The clean-up on both days was really well done, conscientious and meticulous.

Great service! A day after I left a request for a roof inspection on their website, I got a call from Mark who came out within the hour. He took a look and explained his observations and plan for future follow-up. I was left feeling satisfied and reassured that my roof was going to keep my family dry and comfortable for years to come. Highly recommended!

Very impressed with George and his company. High quality work at a fair price. It was easy to arrange for a quote and George was happy to answer all of the questions I had from comparing quotes (with no pressure). His plan and answers made a lot of sense and so we went ahead and it looks great.

Mark was a pleasure to deal with, in advance he clearly explained the work that would be completed and was honest with his assessment. The price was very reasonable given the scope of the work for both sections of roof, peaked with shingles, and the flat roof at the back. The crew did a fantastic job, they were very quick and professional, and their work was stellar. Afterwards they cleaned everything up, and my neighbours were very impressed. I would highly recommend Coverall roofing to anyone, my roof looks great and they were a pleasure to deal with.

Mark, Wes, and team did an amazing job. The work looks top notch and the guys were super professional. Job completed on schedule and clear communications from Mark along the way. Definitely recommend and would use them again (although I’ll bet the waterproofing job they did will last forever, so not sure when I’ll need to do this again :-)

I contacted Coverall Roofing for help with a very small leak in a fairly new roof installed by the previous owner of our house. Mark came by quickly and got up on the roof to investigate. He determined the problem was likely due one of two possibilities: one was a small issue around a vent pipe and the other was a possible issue with the design of the venting. Mark fixed the first thing on the spot and let me know what to look for in case it was the latter and the issue recurred. Mark seemed very knowledgeable about rooves and provided good service. Recommended.

We moved into an older home in Riverside and needed to have our flat roof replaced. I called Mark at Coverall Roofing and he got back to me with a quote that was lower than his competitors. I needed to schedule for a specific date and Mark accommodated me. Which was amazing! Mark's crew arrived on time and completed the job in 1 and a half days. They did an excellent clean up and we could barely tell they had been here...except we have a new roof. I would highly recommend Mark and his brother Joe, they even fixed some extras without charging me. Kind, courteous and clean, they were awesome!

What: Flat roof Soprema, Railing Remove and Re-install, Metal CappingPrice: GREATQuality: TECHNICAL INSTALLATIONCoverall was highly recommended by a friend who saw my flat roof terrace and commented how terrible it was. He said that he had had a leak and had a terrific company and guy to recommend. When I called Mark he got back super quick and came by to take a look in 2-3 days. He was honest saying that if my roof wasn't leaking then I might just wait as it could last 2years or even 6 years.I still asked him for a quote anyway which he provided about 2 days later. It was for a good price and my wife said to do it for peace of mind. When the day came, his workers were fantastic. So many roofers don't follow procedures for installation of a waterproofing system. They stripped the flat roof bare to the plywood noting that the old membrane had been melted right on to the plywood - wrong.1) They removed the aluminium railing and metal capping 2)They installed protection board nailed down3) Torch down Soprema base layer up and over the parapet wall and 12" up the side of the house (siding and J channel removed)4) Torched down top layer Soprema system. Can see seems perfectly melted and joined5) Matching Gray metal parapet capping custom made and installed6) Fence re-installed perfectly with caulking put in all openings.

We had a great experience with Coverall Roofing. Mark answered my first call quickly, took the time to investigate the problem and proposed an affordable fix that we are very happy with. The team of roofers that worked on the house were respectful, pleasant and easy to communicate with. We couldn’t be happier and will definitely be coming back when more roofing work is needed.

George and his bros. and the rest of Coverall’s crack crew did a fantastic job on our house and garage over a several day stretch last month. It was a comprehensive roof replacement project which included several pitches of shingles, several flat roofs, skylights, soffits, fascia and eaves troughs - the works! The finished product looks great - a quality piece of work all around. They were very responsive in all of our dealings before, during and afterwards, and kept their poise when facing the inevitable challenges encountered on the job. I highly recommend Coverall.

Our roof was damaged during the wind storms. After receiving a word-of-mouth referral, we reached out to Mark at Coverall Roofing. He responded quickly to our inquiry. The quote was competitive. The work was done on time and professionally. A few weeks before the crew was meant to do the job, we experienced a leak through the roof. With 24 hours notice, Coverall did a repair for us to prevent further leaking until it was time to do the scheduled roofing work. Check out the Homestar and Google reviews for Coverall. They are reliable and professional. Thanks for doing a great job.

His crew showed up on time and worked super hard from dawn to dusk, completing 90% of the big job in one day. Nothing but great things to say about Mark and his team at Coverall. They replaced our roof a few years ago after a very balanced assessment of what needed doing and what could be held off on. Mark is very responsive and came back quickly to assess a minor problem that arose a few years after the fact, with a promise to remedy it ASAP. I’ve recommended Coverall to many others and will continue to do so.

I come from a family of contractors (they're in the States) so when I find a contractor that I consider as good as my family, that I TRUST as much as family, that I consider as reliable as family that is a MONUMENTAL experience. I can truly say that of Mark and Coverall Roofing. They are beyond excellent roofers. They work constantly until the job is done and they are super skilled at the craft of roofing. Yes I said craft. We had four flat and two gabled roofs our job required skill and finesse. They nailed it. And any subsequent questions I had were answered immediately. Mark always returns calls promptly. It feels like once you're a customer you're a part of the Coverall family. I'd give them 100 stars if I could.

I had to have the roof of my 3 bedroom home re-shingled. I got three quotes of which Coverall was the most transparent and comprehensive. George explained exactly what he and his crew were going to do (remove the old shingles, install ice & water membrane, a drip edge, a synthetic underlay, replace vents and add two more, install metal wall and chimney flashing and leave the property clean upon completion) and when they were going to do it. The best part was that they did exactly what they said they were going to do (a bit unusual these days...). They showed up exactly when they said they would and did exactly what they said they would do for exactly the price they quoted. I highly recommend Coverall to anyone who wants reliable and high quality service.

Mark and his team provided great service. It was a 1.5 day job. Mark and his business partner came for inspection and a quote within a couple days of contacting them. He gave us their first available slot for the job. The team showed up about 8 am and worked until 9 pm, closing down when we requested them to respecting our noise constraints and those of our neighbours. When they finished the job the next day their clean up was complete and thorough. On time. On budget (a very reasonable price). And Mark and his team were pleasant throughout. We are happy to recommend them.
